Matt Riddle is one of the prominent stars in WWE. Ever since his return to RAW after Mania, he has been helping other teams in their matches and now, he is feuding for the Intercontinental Championship. Riddle faced Ludwig Kaiser in a match on this week’s episode of RAW. He suffered an injury when Gunther and Kaiser attacked him after the match.

The Original Bro has started a feud with Gunther and his Imperium members, Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci. The June 19 episode of RAW saw Matt Riddle go against Ludwig in an advertised match. As Matt was able to capitalize on his win, The Ring General attacked him just after his win. Ludwig also joined the assault, making it a 2-on-1 helpless situation.

Gunther targeted Riddle’s left leg as he deployed multiple kicks on it when he was laid down on the ground. The incredible acting of The Original Bro made the audience believe that he actually suffered an injury. The assault came to avenge Vinci’s leg snap backstage by Riddle weeks ago. The WWE Universe is concerned about his well-being. However, reports suggest that he is not injured and that it was all part of the storyline.

The injury segment on RAW was added to heat up their rivalry, with the babyface star gaining the sympathy of the crowd. This could proceed further with Matt challenging The Ring General for a title match at Money in the Bank. This week’s segment could be built up for a long term storytelling. The match could be incredible, with the fast-paced Riddle getting slowed down due to his injury while the hard-hitting Gunther would still dominate.

Matt Riddle’s hiatus from WWE explained

The Original Bro Matt Riddle has been an absolute fan favorite in WWE. His RK-Bro tag team with Randy Orton was loved by many and saw them win the tag team titles twice. Riddle also won the United States Championship on RAW. After a short-lived yet successful career, Matt went through some legalities last year.

After Orton’s injury, Riddle’s storyline with The Viper was sidelined, and he was given a singles run again. He was feuding with Seth Rollins for the US Title, and their match was scheduled for SummerSlam 2022. But Riddle’s inability to pass a drug test made him unsuitable for the match, and it was postponed.

The second time he failed the drug test, he was sent to rehab. His failure to follow the wellness policy led to him being suspended for 60 days. The warning stated by the company was that his inability to attend rehab would result in his firing. Hence, Matt Riddle was away from WWE for quite some time.
